Our skittle alley is set up in the restaurant upon request. It must be booked in advance, along with the required food order.
We do not charge for the use of the skittle alley, but we offer it along with a basket-style meal for £12.00 per person, with a minimum of 25 guests (maximum approximately 50-60 guests).
Choose from the following meal options:
- Southern fried-style chicken and chips
- Sausage and chips
- Battered haddock and chips
All meals come with a salad garnish. Desserts can be ordered on the day or night of the event. Coach parties are welcome.
Outdoor Activities
Water sports
Available from us such as Dragon Boat racing, raft building & racing to canoeing and many other water sport based activities.
Sorry, but as it stands at the moment we do not allow paddle boards or paddle boarders to use our car park or access the river.
Slipway
The Ferryman Inn has one of the few slipways above Oxford, Residents may use the slipway during their stay. Public use of the slipway is charged at £10 in and £10 out which includes up to two hours in the car park for slipping or recovering boat. Cars and trailers left in car park are charged at £10 per car and £10 per trailer per day. NO OVERNIGHT PARKING unless previously agreed.
We do not allow boats to be launched at busy times ie. Sunday lunch time.
Please check car park before driving in with your boat as it may be impossible to turn around and leave.
We are happy to talk to clubs about leaving boats and launching.
Aunt Sally
The Ferryman Inn has its own Aunt Sally with the sticks and dolly being used upon paying a deposit. We can play indoors or outdoors. Please ask for details.
We do not have any teams at the moment, but if anyone wishes to start one we would discuss it with you.
Fishing
Residents of the Ferryman Inn have access to the Reading and District section of the river adjacent to the Inn. Members of the Reading and District and Littlemore fishing clubs who use the Ferryman Inn's car park are required to pay £5.00 (by agreement) per car, per day to park.
During their stay, residents may fish the 1.5-mile club waters, as well as the nearby carp lakes and trout fishing at Farmoor.
Corporate fishing days can also be arranged, complete with breakfast upon arrival, a day of fishing, and a meal with a presentation afterwards.
Dark skies
Whilst the Ferryman Inn is not an actual accredited dark sky site we do have a clear view of the sky due to being so far from towns or other sources of light.
We cannot guarantee a clear night free from clouds!!
Wildlife and walking
The Ferryman is situated in an outstanding area for you to explore, an amazing range of birds from King Fishers to Kites, Swans to sparrows etc.. The nearby old sandpits are a haven for all types of birds and creatures you will not be disappointed.
Easy walks alongside the Thames passing through Locks and riverside Inns and pubs with a return walk or a taxi ride home.

Burford with its character hill and old pubs and inns and quaint shops

Burford Garden Centre a well known and loved apart from plants and garden equipment it sells clothes, food, furniture, art, toys etc., with a very good restaurant.

Bibury an ancient village with the oldest row of cottages, the Swan Hotel, Trout farm, Mill and pub.

The Classic Car Hub, just beyond Bibury a collection within two hangars of classic cars for sale plus two cafes, you can browse freely and then have coffee.

Cotswold Woolen Weavers at Filkins a museum of looms and weaving equipment plus an interesting shop and a display of woven items on sale.

Cotswold Wildlife Park a park setting for animals with various displays both indoors and out, a train takes you around to station drop offs and a large restaurant.

Oxford Bus and Morris Motors museum at Long Hanborough a collection of coaches and buses, memorabilia and the museum of Morris when it made cars in Oxford.
